My plan is to start out slow and eventually fill up a couple spots in our yard. I have a feeling it’ll be a lot of trial and error, but hopefully these resources will help! 22 days until Spring!
I’ve lived in Fayetteville, AR for almost 8 years now. We love living here and we’ve found that there is no other place quite like it. Here are some of our favorite places/things to do in the area, just in case you ever find yourself in these parts.
Lake Fayetteville
Has a paved 5.5 mile trail and a 6.9 mile nature trail. Also has an 18 hole disc golf course.
Wilson Park
Near downtown, has a 1-mile loop, pool, playground, and tennis courts.
The Square/Farmer’s Market
Otherwise known as our “downtown”, has a bunch of local shops and restuarants. The farmer’s market is held at the square every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from the Spring through the Fall with live music and lots of vendors.
Dickson Street
Great restaurants and bars. If you “go out” on a Friday or Saturday night, this is where you go.
Mt. Sequoyah
Mt. Sequoyah is privately owned and used for conferences and retreats. It has trails & lodging but also one of the best views of Fayetteville, especially in the fall.
Gator Golf
Gator Golf, simply put…rocks. $5/game. You choose 1 of 2 courses. It’s super fun and if you get a hole-in-one on the last hole you get a coupon for a free game!
Mt. Kessler
Probably our favorite hiking spot. If you walk only about a mile in you get to a great look out. The trail goes on for miles.

One of my favorite things about Fayetteville is that if the weather is nice you can spend minimal money and still have a fun day. With the trails, parks, and downtown it’s easy to just walk around and take in the sights. If you live anywhere around Fayetteville I strongly advise visiting!
I recently finished my second smash book. Here were the last couple pages.
These layouts include magazine cutouts, a napkin I doodled on while waiting for my niece to be born, pictures, and smash pad tear-outs.
I liked the last page too much to put anything on it.
Then I started my 3rd smash book, it’s the green one and the pages are probably my favorite. I liked the front page on this one too, so I left it bare.
I’ve only done a couple spreads and here they are.
In these I had a newspaper cutout, ticket, menu, smash pad tear-out, and more crud from magazines.

We’ve been in our house since August, and we’re taking our time filling it up. Here are my favorite places to get home decor/furniture:
Target – great for decorative items, lamps, and bedding
Joss & Main – you have to set up an account with your email address and a password, but this website has a bunch of discount furniture among other things
Etsy – good for pillows and seasonal decorations
Overstock – furniture and rugs, probably my favorite
Wayfair – furniture, rugs, lighting
Amazon – furniture and rugs
Pier One – lamps and baskets
Homegoods – lamps, accent pieces, wall decor
I usually browse quite a bit before making any purchases. And if I do find something I like online I do a search of the product item and can usually find it for even cheaper at other sites. The search is worth it if I end up saving $$!
I got some Valentine’s Day inspiration from these pins:
I decided to make a heart felt garland myself. I used different colors of felt, pom-poms, some hemp cord, scissors, and a couple different templates for the hearts (made from cardboard).
Then I made small slits in the sides of each heart to string the hemp cord through. You can use a craft needle to do this, but I found the the hemp cord went through easy on it’s own after cutting the slits.
Then I made sure that the hearts overlapped just a little bit.
Next I hot glued the overlapping parts of the heart together and then hot glued a pom-pom on top.
I transitioned between the larger hearts and bigger hearts.
And this is the finished project!
I got the X’s & O’s from the craft section at Hobby Lobby. They were only $2.50 each and could be painted later on if I wanted to mix it up.
The only other decoration I have is this cupid dish towel, kinda ridiculous in an awesome kind of way.

Back in November I did a post on styling bookcases, here. I’ve since made a couple small changes.

Many styling tips and pictures show the books split up with decorative accent pieces inter-mingled with the books. Although I like that look, it can look cluttered when you have a large bookcase like we do. So I went ahead and put the books together with a few small objects set in front. As we get books we can fill out that 4 shelf that we’ve started, and then allocate the second to bottom shelves for frames. I intend on getting baskets for the very bottom shelves to add some storage. Here are a couple close-up pics:
